Return of the B Boy(s)

Just over 20 years ago I bought the album Bizarre Ride II: The Pharcyde on audio tape, by The Pharcyde. It was, and still is, a masterpiece. Along with Nirvanas Nevermind album, Bizarre Ride II: The Pharcyde was one of the tapes that was always with me, in the bedroom and the car.

The Pharcyde are an alternative hip hop group from the west coast of America and Bizarre Ride II was their first album (released in 1992). To mark the 20th anniversary of this classic album the group are currently touring the world and playing the record in its entirety.

I never got to see the group live, back in the day, so when I found out they were playing at, The Garage in Islington I was super stoked. The gig was last night and The Pharcyde fucking killed it! It was one of the best gigs I've ever been to, right up there with The Stone Roses in Lyon and Nirvana at Reading.

The event was a joyous celebration of a seminal hip hop record, if you don't own it, you really should. You can get it on Amazon, or download it from the iTunes store. Make time to see this tour, you will not regret it. Future tour dates are listed on the groups website, check it out: http://bizarreridelive.com/

Thanks to K-Natural and Slimkid3 for taking time out after the gig to speak to people, sign autographs and pose for photos. A huge, special, big, super thanks to Paul and Cass for sorting the tickets out and also finding my credit and oyster cards on the dark, sticky dance floor after the gig - incroyable!
